Privacy Policy

Version 1.0. In force from 21 August 2026.

Who we are

MSRA Mate provides the study application described in our Terms of Use. We decide how and why your information is handled, which makes us the controller of it.

For anything about your information, including any request or any complaint, write to contact@msramate.com.

What we collect

An email address, or a phone number, is necessary to have an account at all: it is how we sign you in and how we reach you about your subscription, so without one we cannot provide the service. Everything else in the list above is either optional or produced by using the app, and the app works whether or not you fill it in.

We record a small and fixed set of usage events. We do not use advertising networks or tracking software, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not build profiles for advertising.

Why we use it, and on what basis

We use your information to give you the service and to run your account, which we do to perform our contract with you. That covers signing you in, delivering and unlocking content, keeping your progress in step across your devices, taking payment, and giving you support.

We use it to keep the service secure and working, to enforce our terms, to detect shared accounts and copying, to investigate faults and misuse, and to improve what we offer. We do this for our legitimate interests in protecting the service, our content and the people who use it, having weighed those interests against your rights.

We send marketing email only where you have asked for it, which is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

We keep the records we are required to keep, including for tax and accounting, and we answer lawful requests, which is our legal obligation.

We do not make decisions about you by automated means that produce legal effects or anything similarly significant.

Marketing

Marketing email is off unless you turn it on. You can turn it off again in Settings, or through the unsubscribe link in any message. Doing so does not stop the emails we have to send to run your account, such as sign-in codes, receipts, and notices about these policies.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to host the service, to send our email, to take payments, and to help us find faults. They act on our instructions, they may use the information only to provide their service to us, and they are bound to keep it confidential and secure.

We also share information where the law requires it, where we need to protect our rights or our content, and if the business is transferred to someone else.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Where it is held

We hold your information on servers in the United Kingdom and Europe. Where a service provider operates outside that area, we use safeguards approved for the purpose.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When your account is deleted we erase it, apart from what we must keep and a small amount that is kept with nothing left identifying you.

We keep financial records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. We keep security and technical records for a short period, long enough to investigate a problem and no longer. Where information is no longer needed for the reason we collected it, we delete it or remove what identifies you.

Your rights

You may ask us to give you a copy of your information; to correct it; to delete it; to restrict or to stop a particular use of it; to give it to you or to someone else in a portable form; and to object to a use we base on our legitimate interests. Where we rely on your consent you may withdraw it at any time, which does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.

The quickest route is in the app: Settings, then Your data, where you can download a copy of everything we hold or ask for your account to be deleted. Otherwise write to contact@msramate.com. We answer within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the supervisory authority for data protection in the United Kingdom, at ico.org.uk.

Children

The service is for adults, it is not directed at children, and accounts are for people aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Keeping it safe

We take the measures we consider appropriate to protect your information. They include encryption in transit, encryption of the study database held on your device, restricted access to our systems, and regular backups. No service can promise perfect security, and you help by keeping your sign-in details to yourself.

What the app stores on your device

The app stores information on your device so that it works offline and so that you stay signed in, including the question packs you download, your progress, and your settings. That is part of the service you asked for. There is no advertising identifier and nothing that follows you elsewhere. Removing the app removes what it stored.

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always published at this address with its version and date at the top, and we will tell you about anything significant through the app or by email.
